[[Maybe...just maybe]]

Well well...looks like life in ATEC isn't such a huge nightmare afterall. At least for the time being.

Right now, my vocation stands as ATEC Infantry Recce Specialist. The very good thing about my vocation is that I get to stay out (which roughly means it's an office hour job) and operates on a 5-day week basis. But I haven't got much work to do yet since I haven't finished my conversion course. Heard it's gonna start around April 12 and lasts almost 2 months.

Hopefully it won't be too hurt. All I know of the course is that it's physically demanding and there's a 50-kilometre route march. *faints*

Other than that, much of my vocation revolves about evaluating other recce troops during their unit's exercise. If lucky, the exercise comes once every few months. If not, it might come back-to-back in a matter of weeks.

Was almost put on the plane to Thailand by my big boss for next Sunday as they fly out again for an exercise. A good thing that Chief Clerk said it was too late to insert me into the flight. There won't be much for me to do there too, other than observing how my superiors do their work and lots of manual work.

Anyway, I'm not prepared to like fly in a week's notice. No excuses, but just don't feel prepared to do so.

But Monday is slightly more interesting as I was asked to go to Sungei Gedong to observe an evaluation exercise. Not so bad for a change from sitting in the office and having practically nothing to do. I don't mean to smug that I'm so slack now, but really, it's so boring at times that it can be brutal.

I guess I can be considered really lucky. It must be a miracle that I was the only one chosen out of like almost 800. And the camp is very near home. Really thankful, I must say.

In the meantime, have to make an effort to maintain my fitness. Or rather, improve it. Lest I suffer hell during my recce course. The results can be fatal.

Looks like quite a number of my friends are going to ORD soon. Great for you guys! Finally get to see your pink IC again. I think I almost forgot how mine look like. About 18 months to go. Can't wait for these months to fly by. I miss being a normal civilian!!

I must say that maybe, just maybe, I've been lucky to get this vocation. Time will tell how tough it can get. But I'm looking to future overseas assignments. The first one due for me might probably be in August. Fingers crossed. Hopefully it would be a positively enriching experience.

As for the rest, hang in there! 2 years indeed ain't that long, neither short are they. But we will all get through it. Well, at least everyone has to.
