[[The New Year I almost didn't have]]

Year 2006 is certainly getting more and more memorable as each day passes by.

And yes, I almost didn't get to celebrate a single day of this Chinese New Year. Why?

Because a stupid bugger actually lost his rifle during Exercise Wanderer in Lower Mandai. Almost every mother's son was activated to search for the missing M-16. Ok, that might be an exaggeration, but certainly many people were involved in what has to be the biggest search of the year in the nation. For sure, it would be even bigger than the search for a new Singapore Idol. And we are not even into February!

Seriously, it is pretty unthinkable how u can lose something that is like a metre in length and almost 3 kilograms in weight when it is slung around your neck all the time (supposedly) during the exercise. Not that it hasn't before, but losing it right in the heart of the mainland must have caused a whole lot of concern.

And while all of us are cursing the unfortunate/irresponsible fellow for almost causing us to lose the whole of our Chinese New Year break (in the end we did lose a day), spare a little thought for his parents. I'm sure it must have been a lot to take for them.

And as I sit here, I am indeed savouring every single moment of the long break. It had been a really negatively eventful week, one which I, and most others, could have done without. The schedule for the next 2 weeks ain't gonna be a joyride either. February certainly is a very testing month, both physically and mentally.

Something to cheer about, though, is Man U getting into the Carling Cup Final, which I would feel castigated if they don't win because it's against Wigan. Credit to Wigan as they got pass Arsenal to reach the final, but hey, Man U is a very much different proposition compared to Arsenal. Dumped out of the Carling and FA Cups in the space of less than a week and doing so poorly in the league (by their standards), what else is there to say? Move on, Theirry Henry!

And watching Man U demolish Wolves last night 0-3 was certainly encougaring, none more so than the performance of Rio Ferdinand in the defensive midfield role. He looked very much reliable and assured in the role, and now that Wes Brown is fully fit, Man U don't look short of centre backs. It's going to be a real treat when they visit Liverpool in the fifth round. Tough tie, and how I wished it was at Old Trafford instead of Anfield.

Booking tomorrow at 1945 hours. How very dreadful that feels.

Till the next time, take care everyone! Happy Chinese New Year and Gong Xi Fa Cai!!

[[]]

Oh yeah, here's the lyrics to a song I've been getting hooked onto. Just contact me if you want the mp3 for it. *winkz*

Aslyn - That's When I Love You

When you have to look away

When you don't have much to say
That's when I love you
I love u just that way
To hear you stumble when you speak
Or see you walk with two left feet
That's when I love you
I love you endlessly
And when you're mad cause you lost the game
Forget I'm waiting in the rain
Baby I love you
I love you anyway

[Chorus]
Cause here's my promise made tonight

You can count on me for life
Cause that's when I love you
When nothing you do can change my mind
The more I learn the more I love
The more my heart can't get enough
That's when I love you
When I love you
No matter what

So when you turn to hide your eyes
Cause the movie it made you cry
That's when I love you
I love you
A little more each time
And when you can't quite match your clothes
Or when you laugh at your own jokes
That's when I love you, I love you
More then you know
And when you forget that we had a date
Or that look that you give when you show up late
Baby I love you ,I love you anyway

[Chorus]

Ohh that's when I love you when nothing baby
Nothing you do can change my mind

The more I learn, the more I love, the more my heart can't get enough
That's when I love you , when I love you no matter what

Ohhhh no matter what

[[When will the rain ever stop??]]

Great...guess how long it has been raining?

Four consecutive days!! What the ****? And well, it hasn't shown any signs that it will stop soon. Which is really bad news...

Anyway, here's a little recap of my the last few days.

Was at the Chevrons to celebrate Ann Ming's birthday. There was food catered at the chalet and certainly quite a bit of booze to go around, which was always good news for the ears. But not so great for the host sometimes, because after that he certainly looked quite drunk. And we recorded videos of him talking a lot of shit! Haha...can't wait to see how it looked like on the video.

After that went to the KTV for a short while with some of my secondary school friends, and met up with even more of them at the hawker centre in Boon Lay after that. We were all stuck there till after 3am. Had a really nice gathering talking a whole lot of crap, and not to mention witnessing the, erm, quite amazing comeback Liverpool made against little Luton Town. 3-5 they won, after being down 3-1 in the second half. Which brings the question: how in the blue hell did they even fall behind 3-1 in the first place?

Sunday was pretty much a shitty day. Slept at home (cos it rained what), waited to book in. What a crappy day.

Yesterday was a little bit more interesting though. Was at Lim Chu Kang Cemetary for Basic Navigation prac test. Of all places. Intially thought that there would be topo exercise (how do you topo there?), but in the end we just ended up going to five different stations for what was more like a half-theory half-prac test.

And not to mention that my right boot and leg was attacked by an ant nest. Had what looked like hundreds (actually, more like tens) of red army ants crawling on and into my boots and sock. Bloody hell.

Went back in the afternoon and it, well, rained again. Learnt that book out was indeed 1900 hours (why the *** did we even book in the night before in the first place?) and lessons scheduled in the afternoon were cancelled. Instead, we went to the multi-purpose hall for some weight training. Didn't really break a sweat though it was more than an hour long of weight exercise.

Met up at night with Wil, Shifa and Zhiqing at Lot 1 to watch A Chinese Tall Story. Wanted to watch either Broken Flowers or Elizabethtown, but there wasn't enough time to get to town. The show, well, was quite lame, to say the least. The kind which I would describe as being a "cock show". But nonetheless, it was pretty funny, the special effects were pretty cool, the love story between Tripitaka (a monk falling in love? whatever is this world coming to?) and Meiyan pretty touching. And not to mention Charlene Choi was really pretty too.

And so I sit here in front of my com, blogging in this entry while it's pouring (again) outside, awaiting for book in. 4th week already, and time do seem to pass by real fast. There's live firing for SAW and SAR tomorrow, which is something quite interesting to look forward to. Still, I hate booking in.

Till the next time, see ya!

[[Welcome 2006!]]

Farewell 2005, welcome 2006!!

It's a brand new year and a brand new start. Still rubbing my eyes in disbelief this morning that I'm already in 2006. Somehow, the feeling of another year gone by just ain't there at all.

And a new year calls for new resolutions. Let's take a step back and think if I had made any for 2005. Hmm...can't seem to remember any in particular. I guess that's why every year there is a need to make new resolutions which probably had been repeated with each passing of a year.

Ok, here comes the first. That is to get through SISPEC. 8 more weeks to passing out from BSLC. Seems pretty fast that 2 weeks had already gone by. That's probably due to the extra holidays for Christmas and New Year. But there's still 8 more weeks which I already can forsee to be really tiring.

And I got a regimental guard duty on Wednesday night till Thursday morning. Damn...and the schedule states that Thursday morning is IPPT Trial Test. What the hell man. How to pass when you hardly had any rest the night before? Sighx.

The next resolution is to get the Samsung Z500. Ok, that sounds more like a wish. But I hope the phone will still be available when I can do my upgrade during May. Been fancying that model for a long long time, and with cash flow most likely to be pretty smooth around that period of time, getting the phone should not be too much of a problem. IF it's still available.

Come to think of it now, I've got so much stuff I wanna get. A pair of Oakley shades, PSP, a s 14" or 20" TV for my room, cable linkage to my room so that I can subscribe sports channels to watch, Spain's World Cup jersey...

Come to think of it, I haven't got much resolutions to make this year. I guess I'm quite happy with everything that has been going on now. Maybe except that I'm in SISPEC. But, since I'm there already, there ain't much use complaining. Like what I had promised myself, I shall get through the 10 weeks, do what I'm supposed to do there and NOT volunteer to do anything extra.

Haha...I just wanna get through it in one piece lah. At least I never said I will chao keng (or malingering) throughout the course. Must take it like a man, right?

I suppose that's all I have for my first entry of 2006. Can't wait for the other holidays to come, especially Chinese New Year.

And before I go, Happy New Year to everyone once again! Hope all your wishes come true and work hard to realise any resolutions you have made! *sMiLeZ*
